Date of 50% snow-cover:
Date of ice-break on rivers:
Date of final loss of snow: 1.07.99

BIOTIC CONDITIONS

Rodents abundance evaluation:

high

Breeding conditions:

Breeding conditions were favourable for Rough-legged Buzzard due to the second successive season of both lemming and vole out-break, absence of reindeer herds in the study area in nesting period, and relatively favourable weather conditions. Arctic Foxes were common and bred, Pomarine Skuas nested successfully.

Rodent dynamics:

Lemming numbers were accessed by catches

Rodent species recorded:

LatinAbundance
Lemmus sibiricuscommon
Dicrostonyx torquatuscommon
Microtus middendorffiabundant
Microtus gregaliscommon

Summary of fauna studies:

Dynamics of numbers of 4 rodent species was controlled from July to September. Numbers, reproductive success and diet of Rough-legged Buzzard were studied.
